I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Data Science and Analytics Group at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), working under the supervision of Prof. Alex Fraser. I hold a PhD from the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech), where I was advised by Prof. Alexander Panchenko. My doctoral dissertation — Methods for Fighting Harmful Multilingual Textual Content — developed multilingual NLP methods to combat toxic speech and detect fake news. My research mission is building AI and Language Technologies for Social Good.

Bio for Talks: Dr. Daryna Dementieva is a Responsible AI and Language Technologies researcher at the Technical University of Munich. She received her PhD in 2022 with the dissertation Methods for Fighting Harmful Multilingual Textual Content, developing multilingual NLP methods to combat toxic speech and fake news. Her current research focuses on NLP for Social Good, with a strong commitment to inclusive, truly multilingual, and low-resource language technologies — including Ukrainian. Dr. Dementieva is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and has received multiple recognitions, including the ACL 2025 Best Resource Paper Award and recognition by UNESCO. She is the organiser of the NLP for Positive Impact Workshop and the TextDetox and LLMs with Limited Resources shared tasks. Her work advances responsible language technologies that genuinely serve communities worldwide.
